Vintage Chango Mezcalero Mezcal Bottle from Oaxaca, Mexico: $99.00
This vintage barro negro clay vessel is called a Chango Mezcalero, a traditional Mexican clay bottle shaped like a monkey used to store mezcal. This style originated in Oaxaca, Mexico in the 1930s. These quirky liquor bottles are hand-painted and are highly collectible. I don\'t know the artist or creation date as this is unmarked/unsigned. This smiling monkey, or chango, is holding a snake, is wearing red pants and a green shirt. There is a hole at the top but it does not have a cork stopper. I am selling part of my Mexican folk art collection, these have always been a favorite of mine but I have similar pieces and I need to downsize. The liquor bottle is about 7 inches tall and about 3 1/2 inches at the widest part. It weighs just over 1 lb without the shipping materials and box. No liquid included, you\'ll need to add your own Mezcal or Tequila if you want!
