Beautiful pair of Hopi Katsina (Kachina) dolls, including a signed example by Irvin Eagle Pokeahla.
The larger figure is signed “Irvin Eagle Pokeahla” on the underside along with the artist\'s symbol/mark. The smaller companion figure is unsigned.
Both figures are handcrafted and hand painted with elongated wooden bodies, turquoise-blue faces and bold geometric designs in turquoise, yellow, red/pink, black and natural tones. They are extensively decorated with natural feather embellishments and fiber/yarn details.
The larger figure has a distinctive bird-like appearance with a prominent yellow-and-black projecting beak, red ears, green fiber decoration across the forehead, a full feather ruff surrounding the face and an elaborate feather headdress with a long upright feather.
The smaller figure features a coordinating turquoise face with yellow, black and red painted details and a dramatic headdress composed of patterned natural feathers.
The pair displays wonderfully together and would make a distinctive addition to a collection of Hopi, Native American or Southwestern art and Katsina figures.

CONDITION
Pre-owned condition with age-related wear. The wooden figures have some surface wear, minor marks and paint wear consistent with age and handling.
The natural feathers are delicate and show bending, fraying, separation and general age-related wear in areas. Please carefully review all photographs, including the close-ups, measurements and photograph of the Irvin Eagle Pokeahla signature, as they are considered part of the condition description.
No attempt has been made to clean, repair or restore the feather arrangements.
Both figures are being sold together as one lot.
The feather work is particularly delicate, so the figures will be carefully packed with additional protection to minimize movement during shipping.
