Here we have an extraordinarily rare Colombianite crystal from the Valle del Cauca, near Cali, Colombia. Colombianite is a sacred stone of the indigenous Muisca tribes of Western Colombia. Natives call it “Piedra Rayo”, which means “Lightning Stone." It is considered to be a deeply sacred stone of Divine origin.
As the photos show (some with backlighting), it looks like a regular Black Tektite, but it is clear like glass when light is shined behind it, and may have a mild gray-lavender tint. As far as its composition, the most thorough study was done by the Geology Department at the University of Ljubljana in partnership with the Museum of Natural History (Slovenia), which concluded that it is a very old and well preserved Obsidian with Tektite forms (Pseudotektite). What is still inexplicable is how these stones have survived an incredible 30 million years (Obsidian is very unstable in nature and rarely exceeds a few million years).
These stones are among the most highly vibrational, used by the native peoples to communicate with God. They are incredibly rare and sacred. We have purchased a small quantity directly from the miners of this new find.
ABOUT THIS CRYSTAL
One of the largest Colombianites we are currently offering, this is a beautiful stone with distinctive pitted markings on one side and a less pitted, smoother underside. Because of the combination of pitted markings and partially smoothed underside, we would consider this "First Grade" in terms of quality (see more on this below. What's unique about this crystal is the combination of pitted markings with some being elongated and almost "fossil-like" in nature. What is also very special is that, despite its large size, this crystal has a marvelous translucency as seen in the photos and video here. Quite remarkable!

ABOUT GRADE
The specimens with round and saucer-like shapes, with excellent pitting and patterning are considered to be "museum grade."
The "First Grade" are pieces that have aspects of museum-quality like the pitting and shape, but may only be partially formed that way (due to nature or a break), leaving some areas flat. The translucency in these pieces is still of museum-grade quality.
The specimens which are less pitted and more freeform (like seaglass) are considered to be A or B Grade, depending on clarity and form. />
