Original pair of vintage black-and-white USAF photographs documenting an aircraft accident at Mitchel Air Force Base, New York, on September 14, 1955.The period caption identifies the aircraft as a TB-26 Invader, serial number 44-34626. This aircraft may also be found in historical records under the Douglas A-26/B-26 Invader designations.The first photograph shows the damaged aircraft with a USAF emergency vehicle. The second provides an aerial view of the accident location. Both are original period photographs—not reproductions.The photographs show notable age-related folds, creases, wrinkles and surface wear.
