This exceptionally well preserved piece of vintage Virginia history features a complete 1950 Peerless Creamery milk crate paired with its full complement of 20 clear glass half-pint bottles. Manufactured in August 1950, as indicated by the crisp "8 - 50" factory stamping on the front facade, this sturdy crate was built for everyday commercial transit by the historic regional dairy operating out of Clifton Forge and Covington, Virginia.
This specific era represents a fascinating chapter in regional bottling history; during the 1940s, the Peerless Creamery operation was run alongside or operated by the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Clifton Forge Inc., making this immediate post war piece highly desirable for both dairy and soda advertising collectors.
The crate itself boasts solid oak slats, heavily reinforced galvanized steel corners, and a secure internal wire divider grid, measuring approximately 6 inches tall, 15 inches long, and 12 inches deep. Nestled perfectly inside are 20 matching square style half-pint bottles featuring bold, highly legible black pyroglaze (ACL) branding on both sides. The front presents the registered Peerless Creamery name and regional Virginia operations, while the reverse features a striking "Pasteurized Dairy Products" slogan.
In remarkable collector grade condition, none of the bottles have any chips, cracks, or flea bites, and incredibly, every single bottle still retains its original vintage yellow paper pull tab cap seal manufactured by Sealright Sanitary Service. This fully intact, uniform 1950 set represents a genuinely rare find in vintage agricultural advertising.
