The scene shows extensive floodwaters surrounding homes and businesses west of the Main Street Bridge. It was photographed by Norman P. Standish, the Fort Wayne photographer particularly well known for his extensive photographic record of the 1913 flood. The History Center collection confirms Standish was photographing the Main Street Bridge area on March 25, 1913.

Postally used April 2, 1913 from Huntington, Indiana and addressed to William J. Farrar of Huntington. Retains its original one-cent Washington stamp. The fact that it was mailed only days after the flood adds nice contemporary historical context.

Condition shows toning, spotting, edge/corner wear and light surface wear consistent with age. Image remains strong and detailed. Please examine photographs for exact condition.
