The lid and sides are richly decorated with hand-worked silk ribbon flowers, embroidered floral appliqués, faux pearl/bead accents, twisted metallic wirework and dimensional metal roses. The interior is completely lined in coordinating green floral fabric, and the box rests on four ornate openwork metal ball feet.
The workmanship and romantic floral decoration are characteristic of late Victorian/early 20th-century boudoir and keepsake boxes. Similar textile-covered boudoir boxes are documented from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. Antique pre-owned condition with considerable age-related wear and patina. One hinge/hinge mount is loose and pulling away from the box, as clearly shown in the close-up photo. Lid opens and closes, but should be handled carefully. Age wear is present to the fabric, metallic trim, ribbonwork flowers, beads and other embellishments. Please review all photos closely for condition.
