It features a beautifully hand-carved wooden pommel meticulously shaped into a traditional Bakunawa, a mythical horned sea serpent from Visayan folklore, showcasing incredible regional craftsmanship. This sword is a wonderful find for serious collectors of Southeast Asian militaria and historic edged weapons.
The single-edged steel blade features a classic chisel-ground profile with a clipped point, showing excellent weight and a completely untouched historic patina. At the base of the hilt, the sword features a solid metal collar or ferrule that remains firmly intact. This historic piece comes complete with its original, matching two-piece wooden scabbard, which features traditional metal banding.
